An Ostrich bone is the perfect hypoallergenic, very low fat, non-greasy dog chew. Great for dogs with more sensitive tummies to enjoy and they hardly smell, so more pleasant for their humans too!
This is a completely natural product made from 100% Ostrich bone. They are been air dried to help preserve them. Each Ostrich bone will vary slightly in size, shape and colour, but one thing they do have in common is that they do not contain any additives, preservatives or unidentifiable nasties. They are highly nutritious and very, very low in fat.
Made from Ostrich bone - pure and simple! So suitable for dogs on a grain and/or gluten free diet and for raw fed dogs. They are hypoallergenic and really easy to digest, even for dogs with really sensitive tummies.
They are fantastic for dogs that like to chew...and even ones that don't (see our review below!). Ostrich bones have a fairly hard outer lining and as your dog gnaws on it, this peels away to reveal a honeycomb interior.
Ostrich bones dog chews are suitable for all breeds. They are quite large (approx 30cms), so smaller dogs may find them a little big, but this will really depend on your individual dogs' preference. They are surprisingly lightweight for such a large bone (around 400g), due to the honeycomb interior, which also means that they will even float - perfect for water loving dogs!
Ostrich bones are suitable for puppies over 12 weeks old. A life saver (or rather a furniture saver!!) for teething pups!
Please remember the golden rule - you MUST supervise your dog while they are chewing.
No need to refrigerate, simply store in a cool dry place.
As with all chews, a bowl of fresh water should always be available.
Ostrich bones are suitable for all adult dogs and puppies over 12 weeks old.
100% Ostrich bone (contains cartilage, ligament and bone)
Reina is not your typical terrier - she's not a natural chewer! We have tried many chews with her in the past and she will have a go, then give up, be too intimidated by them or have no interest whatsoever. So, we expected her to sniff at an Ostrich bone and walk away as it is quite large. She gently took it in her mouth and dropped it. 'Here we go!' I thought. Then she licked it. Growled. Gave a little bark. Growled again. Looked at me for reassurance and when I said 'go on Reina' she lay down next to it and proceeded to gnaw and gnaw, for the next 5 hours!
She has hardly made a dent in it in that time. She has just managed to peel away some of the outer layer to reveal the honeycomb interior. Best of all, her gums weren't sore at all and her teeth looked so clean.
I think it's safe to say Reina gives a big paws up to her Ostrich bone and it seems we have finally found her something she enjoys chewing!
All good things must come to an end!
Following a bad accident in August, sadly my baking days are over! There are just a few bags of biscuits in stock and once they are gone, that will be it I'm afraid, until I can work out a way forward!
